Finger style roots blues from the Piedmont, Delta and Country song styles.

Piedmont Blues duo Rooster Forbes includes Dave Sams on acoustic guitar and vocals and Gene Toennisson on acoustic bass guitar and vocals.  Dave and Gene are cousins who grew up in Hamilton, Ohio, sharing a love of rock and roll from an early age. (The name Rooster Forbes pays homage to a very terrifying and territorial bird that was owned by their grandparents.)  Dave has been in groups including Luna Tanz and Moon Dance and has been a solo artist and teacher in southwestern Ohio since the 1970s.  He was a co-founder of the Fitton Center’s Music Café program. Gene has been in groups in Ohio, Kansas and Virginia.
